合 唱 团 介 绍
自1996年成立至今，黄河合唱团已经走进了第七个年头。在过去的七年里，该团先后举办过《圣诞音乐会》、《乡情乡韵》、《东方神韵》、《春之声》及《梁山伯与祝英台》等专场音乐会.，并参加国庆、休斯顿国际节，赈灾义演等大量的社区活动。七年来，他们除了学习和演唱许多传统的中外合唱歌曲外，还不遗余力的推介大量新鲜和富于民族气息的当代合唱歌曲，为休斯顿华人社区声乐舞台带来了一股清新、生动的风气。
黄河合唱团的现任指挥由该团的创始人之一，著名声乐家、指挥家钱护壮先生担任。他重新执棒合唱团后即排练和指挥演出了大型合唱组曲《梁山伯与祝英台》并取得了巨大成功。
In 1996, Yellow River Chorus (YRC) is formed by a group of enthusiastic music lovers. We are an amateur chorus that provides an outlet to dedicated singers around the Houston area. Our repertoire includes choral works by both Chinese and western composers, ranging from classical, contemporary, to folk, spiritual, and art songs in the forms of accompanied, acapella, and various sizes of small ensembles.
Through the years, we have participated in numerous community activities, such as the International Festival (1998), the downtown Thanksgiving parade (2001), and lots of local charitable and holiday performances, our most recent concert was held in May, 2003, singing the well-known Chinese chorale work - "Butterfly Lovers". Our mission is to introduce Chinese choral music, as a branch of performing arts, to the diversified Houston area cultural environment and raise interest and appreciation. Through our music, we can promote growth, development, and mingling of Chinese culture with others in our communities. YRC strives for a more active role in various cultural activities, make known of different genres of music from both hemispheres within the Chinese community and beyond. We currently have about 70 registered members.
